One of my favourite moments of the day was walking down the isle with my dad and seeing Wian waiting in front of the church. I wanted to stay in that moment forever. The feeling continued all through the evening. Everything felt like a dream and it was so special to see that our loved ones also enjoyed the day. Another highlight will definitely have to be all the help we received from friends and family to make this the best day!!
We traveled through our beautiful country- Tulbagh and along the Garden Route. It was perfect.
I wanted to keep things simple yet breathtaking and that was my approach with every detail of our wedding day. The same for my hair and make-up. I never wear make-up or do anything with my hair so for our wedding day I wanted to take Wian's breath away. My make-up artist did the best job and made me feel more beautiful than I've ever had before. I had a messy fishtail braid to the side and my make-up were shades of maroon/rose gold.
My aunt made my wedding dress and also the bridesmaid's dresses. This was extra special because exactly 30 years ago she also made my mom's wedding dress (1987). My dress also followed the 'simple yet breathtaking' idea with a fitted plain white bottom and beautiful top with flower detail and texture. My veil was extravagant, very long and dramatic to add to the breathtaking look.
To that I just added rose gold, teardrop earrings and blush shoes with small heel.
Nothing gives me more satisfaction then making a bride or girl more beautiful then she already is.

We got married at Pearl Mountain in Paarl. Wian and I met each other there in grade 10 and started dating as sixteen year old's. The Paarl therefore has a special place in our hearts and we decided to go back to the place where everything started.
Pearl Mountain is situated in Paarl and less than an hour from Cape Town. It’s a magical mixture of contemporary design, sumptuous cuisine and breathtaking views.
I drank lots of water, stayed active and tried to eat less salt during the week before the wedding. My mother-in-law treated us girls with a spa day three days before the wedding which was so good. It helped us relax and to enjoy the exciting time that we were in.
Wian and I both feel that less is more and that was how we approached the decor for the day. We kept it simple with the colour scheme being green, white and a touch of rose gold. To add a rustic touch we included a few wood elements and also kept the wood tables as it is with no linen on it.
The 'less is more' idea were repeated when we decided on ghost chairs for the reception. It gave the hall a very classy feel.
I asked my florist to have fun with the tables. I wanted many different flowers, vases, candles etc. while my only request was to stay in the colour scheme. It turned out unbelievably beautiful with so many flowers- tall ones, small ones, plump ones- and many different pieces of greenery in between. My expectations were exceeded by far!
We had a little lounge area at the back of the venue where our guests could hang. Fairy lights were arranged in a beautiful tree that gave the best atmosphere while our guests enjoyed their canapes.
Wian (groom) wore a grey suit, a white shirt with a charcoal tie, brown leather shoes and accessories. The groomsmen wore grey pants, grey-blue ties and white shirts with brown leather shoes and accessories. They looked so handsome and best of all when Wian bought his suit it was marked down by 75%. What a blessing!!
My bridesmaids wore long green-grey dresses with flower details. I wanted them to both have the same basic material and shape but to be able to add their own unique touch to the dress they wanted to wear. My aunt who made the dresses helped to put all the different ideas together and it came out stunning. The whole bridal party looked beautiful together and we were so happy that everybody felt comfortable in what they were wearing.
Jané Ulla Photography was our amazing photographer for the day. She made us feel so comfortable and thought of everything. White Jasmine films were responsible for taking video and also just added to the fun we had that day. We can't wait to see the rest of the photos and the video.
We have a thing for a classic car and made use of the same company from whom we hired our matric farewell car in 2012 and whom Wian contacted when he proposed (we went for a ride in the same car we hired for mattric farewell). With our wedding day, however, we chose a different car but still a classic one, a cream Jaguar. It was perfect for us.
Inge at the Koekblik made our wedding cake (Carrot cake with cream cheese icing). It was by far the highlight of the dessert table and looked stunning too.
