We got married exactly one year to the day after we got engaged. So, my first memorable moment of the day was waking up to all the facebook photos of our engagement and it was just a wonderful reminder of the start of this amazing journey.
The morning we were getting ready, I had my two best friends and mom with me and it was just such an experience seeing all these already beautiful women getting transformed into the most magical creatures ever, seeing their faces light up after the hair and make up reveal was something that made my day.
The next was the horse and carriage ride to the chapel. I could hear the music playing and the reality of moment started to set in. I felt extremely nervous, yet so excited to start this new journey with the man of my dreams.
I can really go on forever...got time...well okayyy then you might want to stay for the grand finale :)
The next memorable moment is one that every bride looks forward to on her wedding day, seeing her soon to be husband for the first time and watching his reaction as he sees her for the first time. I honestly could not look at my fiancé until half way down the isle, I just knew I would brake down and cry and really just wanted to calm myself and take in everything happening in the moment. The moment our eyes connected everyone around me disappeared and it fell like it was just the two of us, ready to take on the world.
Our super amazing florist Angelique from Anubel Flower and Event Designer added a bit of her amazing touch to the venue that I didn't see until I walked into the venue for the first time. It was spectacular seeing all these familiar faces with white roses and greenery all around me.
The speeches were soo amazing and something I will treasure forever. Everyone added a very special touch and caused me to have a couple of teary eyed moments.
Drum roll for the grand finale please....
My husband did his speech, which was great off course and the next moment he signals the DJ and asks the guest to please cheer for him should he be a little off note. What happened next I could not imagined in my life EVER, Hollywood moment big! My husband serenaded me in from of our 70 family and friends. It was such an unbelievable surprise, and there I knew that he will always show his love and affection for me no matter who is around.
Our Honeymoon was a surprise from day one. I never knew what he planned and it is probably the first secret he was ever able to keep from me. He planned this beautiful trip to Bali since March and as uncontrollable as life and nature can be, he had to change our entire Honeymoon 3 weeks before our wedding. He got news of the Volcano eruption and didn't want to take any risk with our experience, health or safety and decided to change the Honeymoon to Thailand. I was sad to hear of his disappointment in planning and having to replan last minute, but Thailand is one of my favourite holiday destinations and I was grateful to be able to create new memories there on the best holiday of my life with my shiny new husband.
My wedding dress was an Enzoani "coffee" colour because I will fade into a dress with my white skin. Hair and makeup was done by the very beautiful and talented Yolandi and her assistant from Angelic Allure makeup and hair.
My jewellery was the pearls that my husband got me throughout our time we were dating this included earrings, a necklace and a bracelet. A very special addition was my garter that my aunt and second mom in life hand made for me.

At the beautiful Oakfield farm, summerhouse and conservatory
This acclaimed, multi award winning venue is where romance, beauty, old fashioned hospitality and excellence come together a mere 30 minutes from Sandton and Centurion.
We moved to Cape Town 6 months before our wedding and really started exploring our new home, which included allot of indulging (my bad). So 6 weeks before my wedding I decided to get a personal trainer to help me shed some of the adventurous kilos. I also trained with my step dad at Body 20 when I got back to Centurion 2 weeks before the wedding to maintain being active.
I kept my skin care simple with sticking to my daily regime using Six and just upped my intake of fruit, water and vegetables during my time of training which gave me a healthy glow.
My mom and step dad ensured that I was relaxed the day before my wedding by treating me to a spay day.
We kept the décor standard from the venue as we are "simplistic people". We had silver table cloths and candelabras on the table. Angelique did the flowers incorporating white roses and greenery all over the place, it was beautiful and beyond my expectation. The venue has itself has beautiful chandeliers and the rest of the lighting was provided by the DJ.
Oh my goodness the biggest stress ever! We decided that my husbands suit would be grey because our wedding colours are grey, white and green. So I had JUST made my bridesmaid dresses which are a dark green and my husband decided that he wants a blue suit. Not navy like proper blue! So in my mind I could not get this picture together of how we are going to get his blue suite and the green dresses to work, nothing in our wedding is blue. But hey, he needs to feel good on his big day and have a say as well so I gave in and hoped for the best. It turned out so well, with the flowers and the green ties everything came together. So ladies, take it from me you can make green and blue work.
My husband wore a blue suite from Bride&co and his groomsmen wore pants and an under jacket from Bride&co in a similar colour. They wore light brown shoes and belts with a dark green tie from woollies.
I took my bridesmaids to The Maiden and told them that they can each choose a dress in the colour that I want but in the style that best suits their bodies, because no two girls are the same and feel comfortable in the same style. They both chose the same dress in the end and it looked amazing. The dresses were done to high standard at a reasonable price and it was fast!
Die lekkerste lekkerste lekker pastor Alistair Westcot
From the moment we started planning we knew that we wanted an amazing videographer, and that a video is almost more important to us because it captures the "live" moments of a wedding. So I found Vlakvark Productions on vimeo and instantly fell in love with his work. We knew going to see him that his wife does photos so its two suppliers in one go benefit. When we met them at their home in Harties we just knew both of them would be part of or day. We haven't seen much of Monica from Flashacts work , but her presence made us feel comfortable. When we saw the combined work from their studio we knew it was a power team and that we wanted to have them both to capture our special day.
On our wedding day you could just see that these two know how to work together, it was smooth transitions between the photos and videos. Salmon is serious in his dedication to capturing the perfect video and Monicas lively personality sets the tone to capture those moments. Monika even went completely out of her way to send me some photos for this entry.

We didn't have a planner but Oakfield does assign you a coordinator that ensures that everything runs smoothly on the day.
Horse and carriage like a real priness :) :)
The food was prepared by Oakfield farm. We decided on the chefs menu which was a great variety of delicious foodies. Our wedding cake was cut after the ceremony, so that guests can have some cake while we take photos. It was a naked carrot cake baked and decorated by my mother in law.
My very talented sister in law Nelri designed our stationary. She took our vision and turned it into a masterpiece, from the invitations, table seating chart, menus and our personalised thank you cards to each guest.
Our sound and lighting was done by our DJ Henk Meyer from Gauteng DJ. He ensured that the party kept going with his fantastic music choices. He also gave us a dvd after the wedding with clips that he took throughout the day. We did in fact take dance lessons to ensure that the dance and our songs comes together nicely. We enjoyed learning to dance together so much that we decided to take up dancing as a couples activity.
