We chose the Eastern Cape to get married because most of our family live in and around the area. The most memorable moment of our day was when my father brought me into the church - and my husband to be was in tears at the sight of me and my two beautiful daughters. This moment was....priceless....
We went to the beautiful Knysna and surroundings for our honeymoon. We stayed at Senate Boutique guesthouse and visited many lovely restaurants in the area.
I tried a very natural look with a soft ivory lace dress bought at Duduta.com. Janica Engelbrecht, an up and coming hairdresser did my make up and hair. The jewellery was simplistic with a something old, something new, something borrowed and and something blue included. Lingerie was new, a gift from a friend that could not make the day. THe garter was my something blue . I borrowed a the earrings from my sister and the dress was new.
We got married in the Dutch Reformed church in Boesmansriviermond. Almost all of our guests were local.

Our wedding reception was held in a barn. We chose succulants as decor with hessian, lace and an old farm look.
The groom wore a mixed suit bought at Woolworths. THe groomsmen had a more casual look with trousers and shirts from Woolworths, and suspenders and bowties.
The bridesmaids wore different shades of blue Infinity dresses.
The marriage officer was the groom's godfather and lifelong family friend Pastor Boetie Visser.
Our photograper was Nicole Jordan photography. We did a shoot on the beach in Kenton-on-sea. The weather didn't play along too well with gale force winds gusting....so we were limited with the time and the place. Nevertheless she captured beautiful moments that we will cherish forever.
The day was a family effort with a special friend that did the decor at the reception.
My brother in law, THomas Sinden, was happy to transport me in his Mercedes GL.
We had a sheep on the spit prepared by my father and uncle. Potato salad made by my mother and stepfather. Copper penny carrot salad made by my new mother in law and an exquisite baby spinach salad made by my Aunt, Irma Venter. The pudding, malva pudding with custard and ice-cream was done by Tannie Lien. It all came together beautifully.
The chocolate cake was made with love by my Auntie Rida Potgieter.
We opted to go green with the wedding invites. Everything was done electronically. The wedding invites were done on Wix.com
Our DJ was DJ Chivvie all the way from Capetown. His hometown is Boesmansriviermond and he was happy to join in our fun. We did not need dance lessons as this is something us Afrikaners do from a young age. We had a lively bunch of family that enjoyed the dancing on golden oldies and some newer songs.
