My dad suffered a stroke 3 weeks before my wedding. Although he can't walk, seeing him pushed down the aisle filled my heart with happiness. Never take life for granted. In that moment I appreciated the fact that I have a second chance with my dad. Seeing my soon to be husband at the time have tears building up even though he said he won't cry made that moment unforgettable.
Unfortunately we have no honeymoon due to finances however we are trying to save so that we can have one in the future.
My hair and makeup was done by my sisters friend. She has never studied for it but she would like to get into it. My wedding dress was designed by viola chan bought from Bride&Co aswell as my cathederal veil.
We got married at Midrand conference center. A few guests stayed over night.
No beauty regime as we relocated from JHB to Durban and my dad had a stroke 3 weeks before my wedding so I was to stressed to worry about it.
Center pieces were grey painted wood lanterns placed on top of a round mirror with flowers coming out of the lantern and onto the table. 3 Tea light candles were placed around the lantern on each table and I had made a menu printed on green wine bottles placed in the center. Our colours were royal blue grey white and silver. We had fairy lights hanging from the chandelier.
the groom wore a royal blue suit, white shirts, black tie and brown formal shoes. the groomsman were to get their own suits being black with white shirts and we bought royal blue ties for them. Not everyone matched as we gave each person the opportunity to dress in their own style.
Each bridesmaid the opportunity to choose their own style dress but it had to be plain royal blue dresses.
our original marriage officer cancelled two days before the wedding and luckily we found a lady called Susan who could help us with the legal part on Friday but could not read the script Saturday due to other weddings. after the legal part was done on Friday we had our friends mom read and conduct the ceremony on Saturday.
Our Photographer was Ronel koekermoer from Petronella studios. She done everything by her self and she mingled with everyone at the wedding. She was such a pleasure and such an amazing photographer.
My mom in law and myself co ordinated most of the affairs. The co-ordinator at midrand conference center helped with the ceremony by making sure I got to the aisle and never ran away.
It was like a queen rushing to her beautiful castle by trackter. However 2 sisters came together through wind and rain and mmanaged to seize the day. My soon to be King and his fellow knights and stunning maidens had come with their own carriages.
The food was if royalty. Only we could imagine fit for a King and Queen. The beautiful Esquire food was preperared by the suppliers of Midrand conference center. My tower of icing from shades of grey that faded into white with sparkles that looked like little shattered stars in the sky was made by my sisters friend Alta Thysen.
Sister's who's bond only grew stronger with this once in a lifetime experience.
Feiends are the best thing in the worl. They are always there when you need them. Friends are the family we choose. Well the story is ... 2 days before the wedding we no longer had a band. At this time 2 amazing people we are happy to call our friends came together and we managed to pull all the sound and lighting together. Our friends Connor Buntain and Gareth Youltan we will always be so grateful.
