To me it was really special and I feel very fortunate that I could have both my parents and parents in law be apart of our wedding day. Having my father walk me down the aisle and giving me a kiss was a memory I'll forever cherish.
My husband and I are high school sweethearts, we've been dating for 9 years before we decided it's time to tie the knot. We always knew we wanted to get married but we had to allow ourselves time to complete our tertiary education and get some stability first. So finally being able to say "I do" to this man was a major highlight, I mean I'm so extremely lucky to never have gone through heartbreak and disappointments because we've been together since a young age.
I've never been an extremely girly girl so I knew I wouldn't go for the Cinderella ball gown. My dress I found at the Bride & co store and had it slightly altered with the gypsy sleeves added on. My veil however I had made, cathedral length with individual rose petals placed from the bottom all the way up.
Makeup was done by Tiffany and I was truly happy with it.
The groomsmen were dressed in navy blue with champagne waist coasts while my husband was dressed in complete navy blue with tan Brown shoes, all from Markhams
My bridesmaids wore champagne dresses, each with a different top design. I wanted it to be a dress that suites there personal style and personality type but at the same time, elegant and appropriate for the occasion. I decided on the overall look but gave them the freedom of playing around with designs for the top half. I was very happy with the end result.
Finding the right marriage officer was really important to the both of us as both our father's are pastor's and registered marriage officials. We firstly decided that neither of them should take on such a huge responsibility on the day, we rather wanted them to enjoy every moment with us as witnesses. We then settled for my father's best friend Pastor Adam Hill from Saron who got to know the both of us very well over the years.
The pictures were done by gcjk photography, a family member who does professional photography as well. He did an exceptional job
I never had a planner, myself, my mother and two sisters did everything. Although the reception venue helped me chose the flowers, table layout, etc.
On route to the ceremony myself and all the girls made use of 2 Mercedes-Benz cars to transport us, while my husband and groomsmen went in a hummer H3. After the ceremony we used the hummer and the bridal party used the two Mercedes-Benz. We chose all our vehicles in black.
All catering was done by the venue's own caters named Cathkin Caters in Rylands Cape town. The Food was absolutely divine...a mini steak swarma for starter, the main meal had a few things but the butter chicken curry was a winner! Then ended off with chocolate brownies and ice cream.
