The most memorable moment of our wedding day was probably when my husband and I stepped aside for a bit during the reception to take a moment to ourselves. He took me aside and we just tried to take it all in. It was amazing.
Another speechless moment was also, of course when I walked down the aisle. We both thought we were going to cry the whole day, but when it got to it we were both just so extremely happy that all we could do was smile and laugh and smile some more.
My husband also did the most amazing speech for me at our wedding, which I will never forget. he had everyone laughing and in tears at the same time, he was truly amazing.
We went to the beautiful Grand Baie in Mauritius. It was lovely to spend some quiet time together, after months of planning (and almost only talking about) the wedding.
We are both very adventurous, so we did every activity possible and enjoyed ourselves to the fullest. It was an amazing and romantic trip, and worth every little bit of sunburn!
I wanted to look soft and like myself for our wedding day. I wore an amazing blush pink wedding dress. I have never wanted a white dress, and I think my pink dress was a perfect match for our very cheerful wedding day and exactly what I wanted!
I curled my hair and had a beautiful 'babies breath' flower crown on. for my makeup, we kept it simple, with a bolder eye and a soft lip.
I wore minimal jewelry, to suit my everyday style. The earing that I wore was my mother's, and my shoes were beautiful little blue sued shoes.
We got married at La Dolce Vita, in Moorreesburg (Western Cape), my hometown. It is a lovely boutique venue- exactly the style we were going for. We had the service outside under white drapings and the reception was filled with fairy lights and candles in a half-inside-half-outside venue.
Most of our guests are from the area. so they didn't have to travel and they could save on accommodation costs!
I did weekly face masks leading up to the big day, and I watched what I ate, to prevent bloating. I have always been active, so I just took my fitness programme up a notch by following the Kayla Itsines BBG program for 12 weeks before the big day.
I generally watched what I ate and drank lots of water and a very limited amount of alcohol, to make sure I feel comfortable in my skin on the wedding day and honeymoon.
We had the service under beautiful white drapings outside, and the reception was an inside-outside venue with a pool in the middle. Our colors were white, light pink, a bit gold and a bit black.
There were fairy lights and candles all around with beautiful orchids decorating the tables. My bouquet was one string of orchids and my bridesmaids had bunched of "baby's breath".
Our guests had white tables and white lounge sets to sit at and enjoy the evening. Our dancefloor was white and beige checked.
The fairy lights and candles, together with the swimming pool created an amazing ambiance.
The groom went very traditional and wore a black suit from Eurosuit, tailored for him, with a grey tie from David Jones.
The groomsmen wore beige chino-pants, white shirts and a black tie.
My bridesmaids looks absolutely stunning in a rose gold dress that comes up to above their knees. They looked beautiful in their flowy and almost sparkly dresses.
I had two bridesmaids and one "bridesman" - He wore the same as the groomsmen, but with a rosegold tie, similar to the bridesmaids' dresses.
Our marriage officer was a dear and old friend of mine, Ds. Du Toit Wessels. He's has known me since primary school, and he knows our story, which made the service extra special when he incorporated emotion and personal experiences.
Hesmarie Nel from Nessa Photography captured our special day. She was great with making us feel comfortable and taking candid photos throughout the night.
We did not want a photo booth, but rather we insisted that our photographer took lots of candid photos of our guests, and it turned out amazing!
No, I planned everything myself with the help of my amazing mom, sister and husband.
I made my own wedding cake! I practiced it three times before the wedding, to make sure I got it right. It was beautiful with different shades of white and pink roses on it.
Wilinda Hanekom Catering prepared the rest of the food, which was served canape style throughout the night, and it was amazing. Our guests could not stop talking about the amount and the deliciousness of the food!
My sister is a graphic designer, and she went above and beyond with designing everything for the wedding.
We did not take dance lessons, as we already knew how to dance. We did, however, practice dancing to our wedding in our garage (haha) a few weeks before the wedding.
The DJ was amazing, and there was not a moment when there were not people on the dance floor. I love dancing, so everyone joined in. It was a great party!
