A boho West Coast wedding has always been our dream, and after our venue in Yzerfontein collapsed after the Cape storms, we had to find a new venue 3 months before the wedding. After many disappointments and tears, we chanced upon Draaihoek Lodge near Elandsbay. We could not have wished for a more picturesque setting. Kilometres of beautiful private white beach, sparkling ocean and silver dunes covered in fynbos.
The wedding was a small affair, just the closest friends and family, who all travelled from JHB to be there. Love surrounded us, as well as the wild West Coast wind, and hairdos were blown away in seconds.
But we could not have wanted a more perfect day.
We went to Thailand, but travelled off the beaten path to Koh Lanta, and a small island called Koh Ngai.
An off-white boho vintage lace dress complimented by rose gold accessories. Statement earrings and midi rings added a bit of sparkle and my feet were bare with rose gold foot jewellery. My hair was styled with soft waves and a flowery crown.
Johann Jooste, my extremely talented make-up artist, kept my make-up natural and sunkissed, with bronze tones and rose gold accents on the eyes.
Draaihoek Lodge, between Dwarskersbos & Elandsbay on the West Coast.
The venue is a 4-star lodge with beautiful cape-dutch accommodation.
The reception was held in a white tent tent on the dunes overlooking the ocean, with whitewashed wooden tables and benches and gold underplates and cutlery to glam up the look. Fynbos and proteas tied the decor to the surrounds and added pops of colour.
Judite is an absolutely amazing photographer and the face behind Silver Dunes Photography. Based in Yzerfontein, there was no one better to capture the cold West Coast light and beautiful colours of the sunset on the beach. She captured every moment, but we almost didn't even know she was there.
