Seeing my dad for the first time is a moment I will never ever forget. I don't know who cried more...him or me. The most special moment we have ever shared together.
And of course, seeing my husband (to be at the time) waiting for me at the end of the aisle is a feeling that cannot be described or ever relived. Just pure love and happiness. I can still picture his face when he first saw me, and how he couldn't contain his emotions. It was beautiful.
Yes, we went to the absolutely gorgeous Zanzibar.
The wedding was classy rustic and minimalistic so I had to make sure that my outfit and look matched our vision.
My dress was a simple fitted A line, with an embellished belt. I was fortunate enough to wear my mothers veil from her wedding that she has kept all these years for me. It was the perfect match. My shoes were nude with a rose gold and silver sparkly heel. I wore no jewelry and (cough cough) no lingerie as my dress did not allow it. I wore a simple silver leaf shaped hair accessory. My hair was pulled into a neat low bun and my makeup was done with various shades of bronze. Everything tied together perfectly.
We got married at Oakfield farm, in The Dairy.
The guests stayed at their own accommodation.
This acclaimed, multi award winning venue is where romance, beauty, old fashioned hospitality and excellence come together a mere 30 minutes from Sandton and Centurion.
I tried my hardest to gym as much as I could before the wedding, but it didn't always work out in my favor. To unwind we went for a few massages prior to the wedding but I avoided facials....just in case.
To make sure I had a beautiful glow on the day, I went for a spray tan with Wendy from Atta Girl Spray Tan. She is awesome and always makes me look like I just stepped off the beach with a golden tan.
The decor was classy rustic and minimalistic. There was simple greenery on the tables with baby's breathe in between. We had clear Tiffany chairs around white wooden tables. There was a tent outside in the garden area with a few cocktail tables and chairs. We had beautiful soft lighting in the garden and the reception venue. We also had a performer (Will Rayz) playing for the guests in the garden while we were having photos taken.
The groom and groomsmen wore light chino pants with brown leather suspenders, crisp white shirt and a polka-dot navy blue bow tie. The groomsmen did not wear blazers however the groom wore a baby blue blazer. The outfits were bought from various stores such as Fabiani, Woolworths, Markhams and Major John.
I dressed my bridesmaid in what I would want to wear as a bridesmaid, something young and trendy.
They wore high waisted pink netted skirts with a white crop top and rose gold choker.
We did a pre-marriage counselling course with our pastor, Pastor Jac, and he married us on the day. It was very special having someone who knows us personally.
Kyle from Bravo Photography was our photographer. He is absolutely amazing and would highly recommend him!
Tanita from Monster Productions assisted us with the planning.
Oakfield provided the delicious buffet.
My dear friend Janine made our top tier cake and the rest were doughnuts from good old pick n pay:)
No dance lessons needed, just pure talent. Only kidding, I was super worried as Don and I never practiced our dance until it was time to take to the dance floor. Everything went smoothly, especially knowing neither of us were counting out steps.
Monster productions did our lighting and sound.
Will Rayz was our live performer during the day, keeping the guest entertained while we did photo's.
DJ Nigel was our DJ and made sure every single person has an absolute jol!
