Well to start with was the weather. My first preference was always to get married in the summer. We therefore decided on the end of October. The entire week before our wedding temperatures were within the 30 degrees in Lydenburg except for Saturday, 28 October when the maximum was 7 degrees. We were freezing! It was then when my one bridesmaid told me: “Forget about everything today. All that you need to do is make sure you are getting married.” So that’s what I did. I downed a glass of OBS before getting into the wedding car. From there on everything was perfect!
The ceremony was in an open church overlooking the mountains. We took pictures on top of the misty mountains with the most incredible photographers – JCClick. While we were taking pictures the guests enjoyed our gin bar. Luckily the reception was warm with all the fireplaces lit and a few shooters doing the rounds. The partying went on till morning hours.
We were off to the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya and thereafter to Zanzibar.
When my mom asked me on day one what type of wedding dress I would like – sexy or elegant – I said both. We had supper one night at Ocean Basket opposite Bridal Wardrobe. I saw this “Yuri” dress from Blue by Enzoani hanging in the window and knew that was what I had been looking for. Although it looked plain I could picture myself in that dress. . It was sexy and elegant. It touched where it had to and it was extremely comfortable.
May make-up was done by Lilla&Carien and my hair was done by Chante.

We got married at @Boshoek Wedding Venue just outside Lydenburg. There was space for 44 guests to sleep on the venue. The other guests slept in town.
I maintain a healthy living. I have always been jogging but also exercised with a personal trainer (Stian) at Virgin Active for 3 months before the wedding. I went for facial treatments at Revitalab in Brooklyn.
We wanted a informal country vibe. The wedding venue was ideal. The lighting within the reception hall created a warm atmosphere. Lissi style assisted me with the flowers. The flowers were very basic with a lot of focus on the single Proteas. All of the furniture and lightning at the venue was organized by the venue. We were able to use anything from their storeroom without paying extra. The additional items such as sign boards etc. were organized by Shirley Fumagali, who is my aunt.
The groom wore a suit by LMlewin from London. The groomsmen wore chino's and shirts from Country Road. Bo-ties were added from the JCclick shop.
We just bought dressed from YDE. They were helpful in getting the right sizes and colors of dress from across the country to one branch within a few days.

JCcclick! They were the BEST. Most amazing, friendly and humorous couple. They made it so much fun even in the raining weather.
No, not really. My mom and aunt assisted with everything.
We came in with an old antique car. Don't ask me the name. The breaks were not really working so we had to drive at a slow speed and had to pull up the handbrake when we got to the church.
The food was done by the venue. We did not have a wedding cake.
I have designed the stationery myself.
The party went on till morning hours. Our sound was organized by AJR Audio. They never disappoint. Luckily there was no need for dancing lessons and we even did a few flips when opening the dance floor.
