My wedding day was magical and everything I dreamed off.
Some of my highlights from this day are :
- When i walk down the aisle and i see my fiance gaze is glued on me , best feeling in the world ever.
- October was a very rainy month in Durban and it was a relief that the rain cleared up for the wedding day.
- The hall was so beautiful with the Orange and Gold colours.
- Seeing our guests - this was so special because almost 400 people turned up to spend this special day with us.
- Even the peacocks from the temple decided to shower us with their blessings - in Hindu culture this is considered very lucky.
- Food was delicious
- Smiles on peoples faces and seeing everyone after a long time. Weddings really brighten any day.
Yes , We spent a few nights at the Wild Coast Sun Hotel , South Coast KZN.
Wedding Outfit (Rosewood Boutique - Phoenix Durban)
I wore an indian wedding outfit called a Lengha. This consisted of a Skirt , Blouse and Veil which was Champagne Gold and Burgundy with clear swarovski stones.
Hair , Makeup and Accessories
I was dressed by professional makeup artist Reena Hanuman of Makeupnthings Durban.
My hair was set in an upstyle which was then covered with my burgundy veil.
A 3 way stonework headpiece was worn of my head.
My makeup was chosen to look as natural as possible with red lipstick and smoky eyes this was successful.
The area around my eyebrows were decorated with burgundy stick on dots (bindi) which complimented my outfit.
My jewellery consisted of a burgundy and gold choker , another longer chain reaching my chest , hand chains and earrings.
I also wore an indian wedding chain known as a Mungal Sutra which is made up of gold with black stones and which was put around my neck by my husband during the ceremony.
My wedding ring is a white gold diamond tripset.
The outfit and jewellery together weighed a lot and I therefore chose to wear a comfortable pair of Gold Glitter wedge sandals.
My hands and feet were decorated with henna (mendhi) two nights before the wedding at my mendhi ceremony by Narusha Govender of Bridal Mendhi by Narusha.
The indian tradition is that the intensity of a bride's mehendi is determined by the groom's affection for her. The redder the mehendi, the deeper his love for her.
My hands and feet nails were done by Prenisha Perumal of Jireh Beauty Box and i opted for a burgundy gel paint with some bling stones.
I was married at the Umgeni Road Temple in Central Durban,
I indulged in some lovely treatments at Spa D Sulis in Umhlanga a few weeks before the wedding.
I use Isabella Garcia products and this has really helped keep my skin looking so good.
My Stage Decor consisted of 3 Giant Size Statues of the Indian Deity Lord Ganesha.
My theme colour was Orange , White and Gold with the tables being laid out with this colours.
Each guest received a white pillow box style sweet box and an organza bag that was filled with lavender seeds as wedding souvenoirs.
The hall was fully draped in white curtains and fairy lights hung from the ceiling.
The scene was set with a full colour wash over the entire hall and stage.
My husband was dressed in the traditional indian wedding suit which is known as a Sherwani from Mr Executive (Verulam).
It complimented my outfit as it was also Champagne Gold and Burgundy.
He wore a burgundy turban and shoes to complete the look.
All ladies in my bridal retinue wore sarees and lenghas that were bright and bold colours.
My marriage officer was Pastor Noah Naidoo who attended to the marriage registration.
The traditional indian ceremony was officiated by the resident priest of the Umgeni Road Temple Gurrukal Radhakrishna.
My photography and video were expertly captured by Ashton and Shamaine of Studio Sasha.
They are located in Somerset Park , Umhlanga
By profession i am a project planner and therefore personally attended to the planning of my wedding with the assistance of family.
Nishi Singh of ASK Decor and Catering also assisted tremendously on my wedding day to make sure that everything went off smoothly.
I arrived at the wedding in a white Mercedes Benz C63 AMG.
I was driven by Vinay Paramanand of SSSB Auto Glass in Durban.
We served a 3 course vegetarian menu which consisted of Samoosas , Springrolls , Breyani and Soji (indian dessert made with Semolina).
The food was accompanied with Salads , Pickles , Juices and Cooldrinks.
The food was prepared by ASK Decor and Catering of Reservoir Hills Durban,
Our Wedding cake was a 2 tier red and gold chocolate cake with caramel filling.
It was covered in red fondant and decorated with Gold Mendhi designs and red edible roses.
My cake was done by Natalie Francis of Sweet Panda Cakes
My wedding cards were purchased and i did my own design and prints.
My wedding guest book was a wooden guest book frame done by Rustic Laser Art in Amanzimtoti Durban.
My Sound was done by Macs Sound,
My Lighting was provided by Vibe Sound and Lighting. They also did my confetti burst and specialised lighting.
My MC was Varshan Sookhun who is a DJ at SABC's Radio Lotus FM
