The highlight for me was definitely walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing my soon to be husband standing there waiting for me. Just the look on his face spoke a thousand words and I couldn't hold back the tears. Memorable moments for me was getting to take a family portrait with both my mom and dad, as they have been seperated for a couple of years my wedding was the first time in about 5 years that they were in the same room together so that was special to me
Yes we did go on honeymoon to the breathtaking West Coast of South Africa. Me and Christiaan could only get a week's leave so we decided to do a roadtrip together. We drove over 2000km for the week. Our first to nights was at a cute little rustic cabin called "Weskus Hokkie" about 8km outside Lambertsbay. It was the best 2 days ever. It is totally private with no people in sight. We talked for hours and relaxed in the outside jaquzzi and Christiaan's words to me were that "Now I know what true love really feels like". Then we headed to Paternoster and got to stay in a suite with the most amazing view of the beach (we basically stayed right on the beach) we got to see the seals play on the beach in the morning while drinking our coffee on the patio, we went beach horseriding here and is was an amazing experience with dolphins surfing the waves and a little humpback whale breaching just behind the break. We had an amazing time in the West Coast with memories we will cherish for the rest of our lives. We ended our honeymoon with a little adrenalin rush by going cage diving in Mosselbay (800m from the shorline, near seal island) with the amazing team from White Shark Africa.
We got married at an amazing venue between Oudtshoorn and george. Oppie Plaas Wedding Venue is situated in Waboomskraal and the view from the venue is just spectacular. I could not have chosen a better venue. We loved every moment. Some geust stayed over at Highlands Lodge situated in Waboomskraal and me and Christiaan slept at Misty Orchard also in Waboomskraal with the most gorgeous view of the whole valley from the little rustic beauty.
Situated conveniently in Waboomskraal in the Garden Route, Oppieplaas is a serene venue only 20 minutes from George, and 35 minutes from Oudtshoorn.
We had a very rustic farm-style wedding. Alot of wood as I love the rustic feeling that wood gives as decor. We had pallet tables with tiffany chairs, hessian runners with lace and wooden rings for underplates. I wanted a relaxed, layed back wedding were geust could interact and enjoy the night without worrying about decor on the tables getting in their way. The flowers was gorgeous with only mason jars filled with baby's breath, roses and a pine cone with candles. We had fairylights all over the ceiling as well as behind the bridal table with draping and flags. I wanted to keep everything simple yet romantic.
Our perfect day was captured by 2 very talented teams. Our photographer was the very talented Elmine Botha (Elmine Freelance Photographer) she was amazing to work with and she captured every beautiful moment perfectly. We had a blast. Our video was done by the amazing Eonmedia. Eon and his team was a blast to work with, they stayed almost right till the end of the night to capture some last shots for the night. I could not be any happier with our choices. We had a photobooth that was open for an hour and our geust absolutely loved it, we received a cd with all the pictures that were taken inside the booth (we had a good laugh)
No not at all. We did everything on our own. The venue self has a wedding coordinator, who helped us towards the end and made sure that everything goes according to plan on the day.
The food was amaaaazing. Oppie Plaas did the food and our geust couln't stop talking afterwards about how amazing the food was.
We did not take any dance lessons. We both like afrikaans music and like to "sokkie" so dancing was a big part of our wedding. DJ Brooks from Oudtshoorn did our music.
