Bernard waited for the perfect opportunity to pop the question which came 5 years later. This was indeed the perfect cover for his romantic proposal.
It was on the 30 September 2016, Bernard arranged a room at the Sothern Sun Hotel at Monte Casino. It was an ordinary night and we were just going to go and have supper. He then informed me before we go, we just had to drop off Charlie’s (one of his friends) room key at the Sothern Sun Hotel at Monte Casino. He told me that Charlie forgot the key in his car when he dropped him off at the hotel.
On the night I was very irritable as I was home late from work and had a rough day. When Bernard came home I was still busy getting done. To my surprise Bernard was very calm as he waited for me to get done, as you all know how we ladies can make them wait.
On our way to drop off the key, Bernard’s phone rang. It was Charlie following up how far he was. When he put the phone, he informed me that Charlie invited us up to the room for one drink as Charlie wanted to meet me.
When we got to the hotel, we went up to the room to meet Charlie. Bernard then opened the door as he had the key and allowed me to walk in first. As I walked in the room I saw rose petals on the bed spelling out “WILL YOU MARRY ME”. I could not control my emotions, tears of joy started flowing from my cheeks.
As I turned to face Bernard he was already on his knee with ring in hand asking me to marry him. I froze as I did not know what to do or say. Both of us were very silent for a short while. I could not get out any other word, only YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! He bought my favorite Champagne, flowers, chocolates, sweets, biltong, and to top it off a cup cake with the words “MY BLOM”. He also made me a card with a Photo. Reading “YOU AND ME ARE MEANT TO BE”
I did not expect this at all and was a total surprise!!!! Charlie turned out to be the name of a TEDDY BEAR that was seated on the bed!!! Words could not describe how I felt. This was the best and most amazing proposal I could have ever wished for.
And the rest is history…

Now these Three remain: Faith, Hope & Love. But the greatest of these is LOVE
The first moment was when I walked down the aisle with my hero (Dad) by my side when I saw my husband to be face, his eyes started to tear as he waited for me. It was the happiest moment of my life walking up to him with one of our favourite songs ("Ons belofte aan mekaar"-Ek wil oud word saam met jou van Juanita Du Plessis) playing in the back ground. The realisation struck that our dreams are becoming a reality. The emotions and feelings I felt at the time can’t be explained. I was overwhelmed with joy and happiness. It was the best moment of our lives.
The exchanging of our vows was the second highlight of my wedding day,
Entering our reception and being introduced as Mr and Mrs Mather with “”Why I Love you by Major “playing in the background as we entered the venue. This was the most breath-taking moment. We were welcomed and blessed with two families come together and united as one and with 200 guests (Family and friends) which made our day memorable.
Our super cool MC Mr Macvity who kept us entertained throughout the evening!
One of the major highlights of our day was the surprise dance!!!
We performed the main dance of the Dirty Dancing movie by Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, we even did the jump and lift which seemed impossible before but on the evening we pulled it off!!! WE HAD THE TIME OF OUR LIFE!!! Thereafter everyone let loose and danced the night away!!!!
Lastly, our family and friends who celebrated and shared this memorable occasion with us.
We only spent the weekend together at the Royal Marang Hotel in the beautiful North-West.
We could not go on Honeymoon due to study and work commitment.

Our wedding celebration was in the tranquil setting of Naftali Estate's vineyards, rose and herb gardens & river views. Romance will lead you down paths you never know existed.
Naftali Estate is situated in the Kanoneiland area 25km outside Upington.
Upington-Kakamas is our Town !! Our guests "everyone is family" that traveled far, they stayed in "die Eiland Resort" in Upington.
Like every other bride- I had Bridezilla tendencies thinking I was overweight. Hehehehehe :-)
I tried to go on a diet and constantly in the gym and completed a few races.
With Braces and all, and a lot of spa/ facial treatments was all for nothing..
Months before the wedding, due to stress and denial as the mirror was lying to me. On my special day there was no real difference just my straight white teeth, thanks to Hugo Orthodontist for my braces. :-)

Now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
We chose lots of elegant looking decor and colors were white with a touch of blush pink. Our idea was to have a sophisticated and loving atmosphere which everyone would enjoy. Everything came together so perfectly!!!
The hall and roof was completely draped with white linen and fairy-lights and a huge crystal chandeliers hanging over a pure white dance floor.
The tables were decorated in white and blush pink napkins, white Tiffany chairs , mirror runners and glass & crystal vases and rounded off with a acrylic name tag for each guest.
We also had a white and blush pink "sweet Love" table and self -decorated thank you gifts Nougats.
All the decoration and fresh flowers was planned by Rita Agenbag.
The Perfect Gentlemen look- Men in Black!
The groom was dressed by Fabiani: Black well-tailored suit, white shirt, black bow tie, Fabiani belt and a Double buckle shoe from Aldo.
The groomsmen were dressed by EuroSuit: Blacksuit, white shirt, black thin tie and shoes from Truworths.
The Black suits were a “sure-fire” way to look sophisticated and compliment the elegant wedding.

They were not only looking beautiful and made my day extra special. They helped and made sure everything was in-place and perfect. It was amazing to see how everyone wanted to help and support us.
Raylene, my maid of honor. I am truly grateful that she took the job on because I don’t know what I would have done without her endless love and support. She helped me every step of the way. She calmed my nerves and gave me encouragement throughout everything. She solved everything that I was stressed about!!! She was the best maid of honor any bride could wish for and I am truly lucky to have you as a friend, cuz and sister!!!
Our marriage officer was Dominee Abel from the Northern Cape, "VGK Church", Kakamas
Our special day was captured by EPIC MOTION by Pieter van Wyk (Photographer) and two assistance. The wedding video was done by Pieter Jaarts (Videographer).
We also had a Flower wall "PhotoBooth" done by Rita Agenbag and captured By Pieter Van Wyk and Team.
Our Fairy-tale Elegant Classy Wedding!!!!!!

Rita was responsible for the decorations and flowers. Rita is Phenomenal!!!!
The groom, miniature groom and 6 groomsmen arrived in 2 new white C-Class Mecedes benz vehicles.
Miniature bride, 6 bridesmaids and 3 flower-girls arrived in 3 new white C-Class Mecedes benz vehicles.in
The Bride arrived in a breathtaking CLA 250 AMG Mecedes benz.
The food was prepared by Keppies Spangenberg from Kakamas.
The food was "fantastic" and "finger-linking" good. From the canepas to the main main to the dessert it was just mouth-watering. We still get compliments on the amazing food.
The wedding cake was made by Charlene Geldenhuys in Upington. The 4 Layer white cake was decorated with blush pink and white fresh flowers. The "cherry on top" was the cake topper silver acrylic "Mr & Mrs Mather, 28th October 2017.
With the assistance from my work colleges, I designed my own stationary and they helped with the printing and transported it to Upington.
Building up to our wedding day, 2 weeks before the wedding we decided to perform the main dance of the "Dirty Dancing , hence we went for 7 hours of dancing lessons at the Dance Palace in Roodepoort. With the help of the dance instructor we would make this possible. "Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey" we had the time of our life.
We had a live band- New Balance from Keimoes.
