When it comes to the most Memorable moments of our Special day, I would have to say for me, it was getting out of the car all dressed up in the down-town grubby Home affairs in Durban CBD and walking towards my Partner of 14 Years, my Wife-to-be. She had the biggest smile on her face surrounded by our Special People and she looked absolutely breath-taking!
As well as the moment we arrived in Umdloti at the Mundo Vida Restaurant, greeted with Rose Petals Pouring over us by those we chose to celebrate with us!
No we unfortunately did not do Honeymoon and decided to focus on renovating our home.
As an Artist myself who happens to be free-spirited and always drawn towards the Bohemian/ Festival Chic Look, I wanted to stay True to my Personality and style.
I was very Blessed to have One of The Best in the industry, (who happens to be a friend of ours) design and make my Gorgeous Bridal Gown from scratch and man Oh Man, I felt so comfortable and gorgeous in my Casey Jeanne Atlier Bespoke piece!!! (It might still be available for purchase!). I paired the dress with a pair of pointed, Tan Anckle booties with Bronze buckles and a few long variants of necklaces, crystals (Amathyst for calm and Blue Agate for my something blue and balance).
My nails I kept in a Ballerina shape in Nude with an accent of maroon lace look on the ring fingers to accentuate my wedding ring.
I decided on my Makeup and Hair look on the morning of the wedding as This is my Trade and I was confusing myself looming ar ideas. I figured I would decide how I felt on the morning and "wing it!". I kept my hair loose and curled it with two little twists at the back, nothing too fancy so it would go well with the Gypsy feel I love so much!
We said Our I do's in A Small Home Affairs Office In Durban CBD.
It was very South African, raw and just beautiful. It helped us focus on Us and we only had a small handful of friends and family there as witnesses.
I hadn't changed anything and kept my routine as is, but I have to say that I did loose a few kilos, could have been the excitement! Hahah, as I wasn't going to put any additional unnecessary stress or pressure on myself.
Wow the Decor aspect of it all at Mundo Vida Restaurant was all the work of a Life-long friend of mine, Candace Bennet of Function Design, Durban.
We went for greenery and rose gold (industrial looking) Candle holders. We kept everything simple, clean and modern. We wanted the Ocean and Bright whites of the restaurant to be the basis as well.
I was Spoilt by a wedding industry friend, Carolyn Hall of Adore Weddings and Events who gifted me my wild Cascading bouquet, it was soooo me!
No Groom or Groomsman, Two Brides!
We had No Bridesmaids on either side.
We were so Spoilt!
Being in the wedding industry prepping and beautifying Brides most weekends, I work alongside a few Crazy talented Photographers and Videographers alike.
We had Jacki Bruniquel of www.jackibruniquel.com capture our nitty gritty Home Affairs Formalities, as well as, a few sneaky pics at The Lighthouse bar at The Oyster Box and on The beach. Check out the blog post of our wedding here- http://jackibruniquel.com/blog/browse/weddings/gay-couple-marries-durban/
Sebastian Nico of www.sebthelensman.co.za captured the chilled Luncheon vibes at The Restaurant with our guests.
We did not have a videographer unfortunately.
Yes my Life-long Friend who is Incredibke with Function Design and Caje Baking!! Candace Bennett of www.functiondesign.co.za
My Parents drove me to Home Affairs to meet my wife-to-be there. Candi drove herself to Home Affairs with her Special Sister Debbie.
Mundo Vida Restaurant was our venue of choice as we kept the guest list small and knew what quality of food we would be receiving! Joni is invredible and so accommodating! The Luisianna Prawn are to due for and many of our guests went back the next day to order that dish again!
We had no wedding cake and rather decided on delicious plain Glazed Doughnuts from Wicked Donuts, arranged them in a tier and it was a hit!
We had a glorified luncheon that flowed well into the evening as we wanted our day to be focused on catching up and quality time. So we just had the resraurant olay their backround music, it was chilled! No DJ or dancing at the resraurant.
