My highlights of our big day was waking up at the venue the morning of my big day and having breakfast with my beautiful bridesmaids. Then walking through the venue and looking around as everything fell in to place, then getting ready, reading a soul touching letter from my soon to be husband, seeing my dad for the first time and walking down the aisle to marry the man of my dreams. I tried to take in every second of that day. Everything was more than perfect.
We went on honeymoon two days after our wedding. (Best decision ever!)
My honeymoon was a surprise. When we checked in at the airport my husband told the lady who took our passports, not to say anything. Then kept me away from all the signs and in the plane, whenever the pilot spoke he spoke to me, so that I could not hear the announcements.
Later on the flight he told me we are going to the Congo. (I did not know what to make of it. )
Finally he gave in and as we almost landed he told me the truth, Zanzibar!!!!
What a fantastic experience. We stayed at the Hideaway of Nungwi hotel and I can truly recommend this to anyone.
We got treated like royalty. We will go back any day.
My wedding had a modern rustic look, steel and light wood effect, topped with a crystal feeling with fairy lights and candles. All of this on a farm looking out over mountains. It was stunning! The venue was already beautiful as it was and did not need a lot of extras. We had our wooden chapel on a hill that also looked over onto the mountains.
It was open all around with two wooden doors and a church bell hung over the entrance. Then we had our canape area that looked out overa dam, with ducks swimming and the reception having a full view of the farm.
My hair was done by Uniquely you “Carla”. We decided after my hair trial to do an elegant up style because of my dress detail on the back and front. Later that night after all the formalities we let my hair down and it still looked perfect.
My make-up was done through MUA “Rebecca and her partner”.
I could not have asked for anything better. It was like they knew my personality and I truly felt like a bride. My make-up was perfect, not too much nor too little.
My dress is a from Love bride boutique in North Cliff. This was the last boutique on my list probably out of 20 and just as I wanted to give up, my mother and sister started jumping up and down and crying. Then I knew this was it, I said yes to the dress.
My dress is a mermaid style, champagne colored dress with a long train and embroidered lace, topped with beading and detail at the front and at the back. It was just something out of a fairytale and I felt that this dress was madefor me.
My shoes I actually bought before my dress but when I saw them at Forever New, I knew it was for me. Nude high heel, open toe shoes with a golden strap around the ankles and toes. It fitted perfectly.
My jewelry was limited, but perfect. I my jewelry as my something new, a stunning hairclip to go with the vail and long teardrop earrings which I bought at Lovisa.
My accessorie was a stunning diamante heart shaped clutch from Forever New. I used this as my something old. Inside of my clutch, as my something borrowed, was a friend’s pocket mirror.
As my something blue, I had a blue beaded bangle which I tied around my bouquet.
My vail was a plain long vail, that was made to fit the dress like a glove.Oh So Pretty, made my stunning garter just for me.
We got married at the stunning Muldersdrift, Cradle Valley Wedding venue.
Most of our guest slept over in the rooms or cottages at the venue and others close by at Kloofdzight etc.

I went for hair extensions and a lot of hair treatments, manicures and pedicures.
Went for a few spa dates with my mother and my sister and a lot of sunbed sessions.
I exercised a lot, ate healthy and drank a lot of water daily.
My décor went perfectly with the venue. I had long crystal candle holders, with long candles on every second table with mirrors underneath. I had small crystal vases with flowers surrounding the candles. On the rest of the tables I had steel stands made for the big flowers to stand on, also with mirrors underneath. Then I had small candles all around the flowers. My colors was a lot of green and white with a touch of dirty pink and champagne.
My flowers were white and pink roses with green rock roses and a lot of green penny gum and white wild flowers. It all went together perfectly.
Multi Flora did my flowers and they made me a perfect teardrop bouquet.
Our furniture was all raw wood and a little bit of rusted steel and concrete.
The lights were crystal and metal chandeliers with candles and fairy lights and also pink/purple up-lights from the DJ to add a little colour.
The groomsmen bought their white long shirts and beige colour chino's with brown belts and shoes from Woolworths.
Marilize Este Creations made their bo ties that matched the mridesmaids dresses.
The groom bought his suit and his accessores from the Plaza.
He looked so hadsome in his dark blue suite.
My bridesmaid’s dresseswas made by Marilize Este Creations from.
She did a wonderful job and we had a lot of compliments. The dresses was a light dusty pink and a soft flowy chiffon material.
For the Flower girls (my grandmothers), we used a darker pink soft flowy chiffon.
I got these ideas from my wonderful friend Pinterest ;).
Our Marriage officer was Jan van Waveren, a family friend that knows Ian and I very well.
We most definitely made the right decision asking him. He was so funny and his message was so powerful that he had all our guest attention. What anincredible person.
We were so lucky to have had the beautiful, talented and famous RDK “Renske” take our engagement photos as well as our wedding photos. She organized the photo booth with the props that the guest loved.
Our Video was taken by Duck soup, also an amazing team that captured all the special moments of this perfect day
The venue had a planner Lauren, whom was my rock star with my mother and sister.
Without them it would have all been a nightmare and I would have been a typical bridezilla.
We had no wedding transport because everything was at one venue but if we did we would have had an 1970’s VW beetle.
My wedding cake I won, by entering a competition from Smitten cakes “Christa”, what an awesome lady and her work is awesome. She went over board to make this so special.
The first time that I ever saw people polishing a three tear wedding cake at a wedding. That already says a lot.
The venue had their own chef and the guests still talk about the incredable food till this day. I give him a 10 /10.
Xattitude printed my newsletters, pamphlets, nametags, menus and seating plans.
All of this was exactly like I wanted it.
Ian and I really had a great time together doing the dance lessons. We really thought we had this but with my first dance my dress was just too big and too heavy to do all the fancy tricks. Owen would not have been impressed haha. Luckily no one noticed on the day. In the end it was still special.
The reception was also really nice. Our MC made all the guest laugh the whole time and helped made the speeches interesting. The party went to quick but luckily people where having so much fun that they took the party to the bon fire and still partied into the early hours of the morning.
We had a guy “Friedel” playing the saxophone in the chapel and at the canape area until everyone went into the reception. What an amazing atmosphere he created with his jazz and blues music.
We were truly blessed with the most amazing and wonderful wedding ever. I can never say thank you enough to God, my family and my husband and all our guest who made this fairytale posable.
From the happiest Bride ever……
