The most memorable moment that I experienced on my wedding day was seeing my groom for the first time at the ceremony venue. Seeing the twinkle in his eyes as they caught my gaze was a moment that will definitely be cherished forever. Other memorable moments from our special day was our entrance as husband and wife and our first dance as a couple.
We spent our wedding night in one of the suites at the Hilton Hotel before we jetted off the next day to the magical island of Zanzibar.
I had two different looks for my special day - traditional for the ceremony and unconventional for the reception. My hair and make up was done by the talented Shirley Naidoo of Hair Sensations at the Hilton Hotel - two different looks, a traditional plait for the wedding ceremony and an elegant updo for the reception. My wedding dress for the ceremony was a traditional maroon and white bridal lehenga covered in stones. My groom wore a matching bridal sherwani to complement my look. For our reception, we both opted for a Western look - a traditional white mermaid dress for me with a beaded belt and an elegant three piece suit for my groom.
We held our traditional ceremony at the SVEA Alayam on Durban's Umgeni Road and held our reception in the ballroom at the Hilton Hotel on Walnut Road. Some of our guests did opt to spend the night at the hotel.
For our decor, we opted for a modern chic theme complimented with the colors of the Peacock which was done by the talented Chantal and Cameron of Lifestyle Decor. We had a mixture of two types of centrepieces one being crystal chandeliers and the other being dendrobium orchids which were supplied by Kogies Florist submerged in tall vases of water - both complimented by floating candles. Stage lighting was magnificent with hues of purple and blues.
