The Anti-Bride trend is a celebration of bold individuality through embracing a rebellious aesthetic that defies traditional wedding norms. For SA Weddings’ latest styled shoot, both Kopel Kreative and Magpie Photography collaborated to capture this avant-garde movement in stunning detail, showcasing vibrant colours, eclectic fashion and unique personal touches that make these type of weddings so fabulous!
Kopel Kreative brought a cinematic flair to the shoot, drawing inspiration from Quentin Tarantino’s energetic movie scores. “Visually, the Anti-Bride trend involves lots of new, fun, and bold colours, patterns and textures,” explains Rachel. “The video showcases each element of the anti-bride with energetic gestures and movements to complement the surroundings and attire.”
Filming unconventional themes like the Anti-Bride requires a blend of traditional techniques and innovative approaches. “On the day itself, nothing changes; we stick to the same format of filming as we would at each wedding, but may change our movements depending on the subject matter,” Rachel explains. “The magic happens in the edit, where we can manipulate footage to convey either a slow emotional build or a bold, energetic narrative.”
The team at Kopel Kreative also emphasised the importance of collaboration. “As a videographer, you have the advantage of movement and audio to help convey an emotion. We constantly communicate with all vendors and our clients to ensure we capture all the elements they have curated. Everyone wants the best for everyone; we are all on the same team.”

Magpie Photography approached the Anti-Bride trend with a focus on authenticity and individuality. “The Anti-Bride trend embraces a rebellious, boundary-pushing aesthetic that steers away from perfection and traditional wedding norms,” explains the Magriet. “It highlights authenticity and individuality, celebrating the unconventional with bold colours, eclectic fashion, and unique personal touches.”
This trend challenged Magpie Photography to experiment with contemporary techniques. “Flash photography and direct flash have made a huge comeback in the wedding scene, pushing me out of my comfort zone at first,” Magriet notes. “I love how you can add drama to your photos with harsh shadows, and highlight movement with a slow shutter and motion blur.”
The shoot was divided into three setups, each representing different emotions and moments of the wedding day. “First, we captured the relaxed vibe of the bride lounging and sipping champagne. The second setup was full of energy and excitement, with playful elements like her bow and gloves. Lastly, the third setup showcased the bride’s badass self as she indulged in her wedding cake,” recalls Magriet. “Her favourite part and ours too was when our model did what we all would do if alone with a cake – completely bit into it and then ate a giant piece from her hands. Visually, it was beautiful chaos.” And did it serve on every level? Hell YES!!
Both Kopel Kreative and Magpie Photography highlighted the significance of collaboration in capturing the essence of the Anti-Bride trend, “Having a good relationship and open communication with other suppliers is everything.” At the end of the day, it is the creative responsibility of all media teams to deliver beautiful content that accurately captures the vision and highlights everyone’s hard work and creativity.
The Anti-Bride trend pushes boundaries and challenges traditional wedding conventions, allowing for more creativity and freedom. “It is always fun to see what each bride brings to her wedding day that is unique to her,” notes Rachel. “Ultimately, the Anti-Bride trend is a celebration of individuality and offers brides the opportunity to express their unique style through couture creations.”
