St John and I met at a very volatile period in both our lives. Each sworn off the opposite sex due to previous relationships. As it goes, we both fell in love fast, and very hard. Up until 2015, I had been lucky enough not to experience the loss of a loved one, and at this stage our relationship was had yet to be seriously challenged. I lost my father that year, and it broke my family. The pain of that loss consumed me. St John saved me, and at that moment, I realized who he was, and that I could never let him go. My best friend, my soul mate, and my guardian angel. He proposed to me 8 months later, under the stars, in the town where we spread my father’s ashes. I said yes, with my dad not far away.
We had just signed the register, and as we were returning to the Isle for the confetti toss, on St John’s arm, we made our way down the two cobble steps leading to the Isle. I lost my footing, stumbled and took St John down with me, with all of our guests in stiches. Best part is, one of the guests got the whole thing on video, in slow motion. Luckily no one was injured, but I could not stop laughing, which made for some incredible photographs!

I had the idea of using my mother’s wedding dress, wanting to alter it to suit my style. My friends and I went to a dress fitting to gauge the style of the dress I suited, and Janine (Blue by Enzoani) walked in. On the hanger, she didn’t catch my eye too much, but my friend insisted I tried her on. She seamlessly and effortlessly highlighted my strongest assets, encompassed the curves of the female form and elegantly flowed from shoulder to floor. She was everything I wanted to turn my Mothers dress into, and so much more.
My bridesmaids wore sky blue chiffon floor length dresses with a sweetheart neckline.
Stressing about little details and finishing’s like Isle décor, is purely for the enjoyment of your guests. Make it simple. I had such tunnel vision; I saw nothing but St John on the way down. I don’t even remember hearing my Isle song!
