A delightful dash of fun and whimsy at Amber and Dale's stylish wedding held at Muratie Canvas
We met six years ago when we were both students at Stellenbosch University.
We connected via a mutual friend and the rest, as they say, is history.
Dale proposed at the beautiful Simonsig Wine Estate in Stellenbosch. Proposal with a view, yes please! The proposal took place on a balcony which he decorated with balloons and marquee letters spelling out 'Marry Me'. He arranged the entire proposal with my mom, sister and best friend! As soon as I said yes, our families appeared out of nowhere (carefully hidden amongst the trees) and cheered us on! Needless to say, I was crying throughout the entire experience, it was so special!
I really enjoyed planning my wedding with the help of Trunk Events. I have always been obsessed with weddings since I was little girl, so much so, that I used my very little pocket money to buy wedding magazines. I knew exactly what I wanted when the planning process started so it was a pretty easy journey.

I took a lot of my planning inspiration from other wedding planners and suppliers - national and international.
I kept up with wedding trends and constantly updated my Pinterest Board with new ideas.
Definitely the vows, I could not keep my tears back and cried through them and our first dance.
My wedding theme was classic modern white with hints of gold.
Because I have always been obsessed with weddings, I just knew that my wedding dress had to be made out of Mikado Silk Satin. I am not a fan of bling or lace but rather simple clean and classic lines. I also drew a lot of inspiration from Meghan Markle – especially when it came to the fit of the dress. The bridesmaids' dresses were chosen on the basis that they can wear it again. Satin cowl neck dresses are in fashion now, so it’s a win win!
We loved the idea of candles lighting up the reception space, there is just something so special about that warm ambient glow. We had a sea of white candles in vases with varying heights to add depth and visual interest. We then coupled this with fairy light curtains, chandeliers, and disco balls to add some extra pizzazz and wow factor! This combination played off so well within our venue, which was a transparent marquee. I never wanted flowers as part of our tablescape décor however my dad convinced me to add some floral elements and so I added a very simple floral centre piece on each table.
No we did not, we wanted everything to be perfect so we left that to the professionals!
We chose Lover by Taylor Swift. The lyrics resonated so well with us, and it was the perfect song for an alternative waltz.
Our first dance was one of our highlights. We had confetti cannons that exploded on the crescendo of our dance. It was perfect! We also had a white jumping castle which made for fun photos and kept the kids busy.
Do not let the stress/excitement of the wedding planning allow you to forget why you are getting married in the first place. Always remember that the wedding is the beautiful gateway to spending the rest of your lives together.
