We met in med school. We landed up spending a lot of time together as our best friends were dating each other. Over the years friendship evolved to really good friendship which eventually evolved into absolute infatuation and then finally a relationship.
We were on top of St Nicholas Island in Turkey. The sun was setting over the Adriatic sea, and he got down on one knee- took me completely by surprise.

Besides walking down the aisle and seeing the look on Gareth’s face, I have to say the speeches were incredible. My brother and the best man had everybody laughing uncontrollably and Gareth’s speech didn’t leave a dry eye in the room.
My colours were Navy blue, blush and gold. With it mostly centering around the inclusion of terrariums (as many as possible in diverse ways). I wanted something new and different, that would match our personalities, but not be too over the top.
For myself I wanted something classic- timeless elegance. Simplicity that made a big statement.
For the bridesmaids, I wanted something soft and romantic that would compliment both the theme and my dress, whilst making them feel both comfortable and beautiful.
I felt the colours were really beautiful together. I went with softer flowers. I initially wanted peonies (like any good Gossip Girl fan), but due to limited availability I settled on Lisianthus’ which turned out perfectly. Having minimalistic flowers also decreased the décor cost and showcased the terrariums as the star of the show.
I didn’t DIY myself, but my décor company made many of the gold vases on the tables.
“ 5 years time”- Noah and the whale. This has always been our favourite song, It’s a little bit different and both the lyrics and the melody are a bit quirky which suits our personalities perfectly.
Our first dance! We took lessons and practiced so hard. Gareth was so incredibly nervous. Getting it right and hearing everyone’s excitement and surprise was so thrilling and wonderful.
Get as much as you can get done as soon as possible, and get a wedding planner you can trust completely. The day is so much more enjoyable when you don’t have to stress about all the small things.
