Earlier this year, this gorgeous couple tied the knot at the beautiful MolenVliet Vineyards! This real wedding certainly had us swooning and it is the perfect inspiration for a fabulous outdoor summer wedding. With spectacular views, divine décor and an amazing team of suppliers, Ali and Chris really did have a fairytale wedding! Let's take a closer look at their love story.
We met through one of my closest friends, Chloe, who worked with Chris.
Chris proposed to me at sunrise in the Masai Mara National Reserve located in Kenya.
This is my favourite place on earth and now a very special place for the both of us.
I loved the planning process and relied heavily on my wedding planner, who is an absolute angel on earth – Nadine Mitchell from Anne Mann Celebrates. She made the process stress-free, fun and so inspiring! With her by my side, I would do it all over again in a heart beat.
We found out 3 weeks before our original date that we had to post-pone our wedding – let's just say third times a charm… a whole year later!
However, looking back I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Chris at the end of the aisle. It was a very emotional and incredibly special moment that I will cherish forever!
I didn’t really have any inspiration; I wanted something that was timeless and chose what I felt 100% myself in. As for my bridesmaids' dresses, I used the style of one of my own dresses that I have at home and just chose a different coloured fabric. I thought they looked absolutely beautiful in them!
Nadine, our wedding planner, had the most amazing ideas – we were literally blown away.
Our colour theme was green and white – we wanted it to be classic.
The flowers were all thanks to the wonderful Heike from Fleur Le Cordeur and were in line with our wedding theme. Heike also created a beautiful floral linen tablecloth and napkins for our bridal table, which we got to keep and will now always remember our wedding day every time we use them. We included green apples in the décor, as I grew up on an apple farm in a town called Ceres. We have an apple cider business so it is a huge part of who I am. An apple even fell on my head whilst Chris was saying his groom speech – I’m taking it as good luck!
Not DIY per say, but my dad made an apple based bubbly and called it “Alexandra” for our wedding and we gave a bottle to each of our guests that attended the wedding.
We did our first dance to Lay it on me by Vance Joy.
The whole day was incredible, but in saying that, simply being surrounded by our closest family and friends was something we will always be grateful for!
Enjoy every bit of it, it really is the most incredible journey. You can never plan for a lot of what life throws at you, (our wedding being postponed a few times due to COVID and a few weeks before our final wedding date, we didn’t even know if we were 100% going to go ahead!), but, that is part of life and in the end your day will be amazing no matter what or when it comes about! Appreciate every single person and moment.
We went on honeymoon to Mozambique.
