Tell us a little about your personal style and how it’s evolved with your business?

Personal style needs to keep evolving and changing with the times, especially in the events industry. A colour or trend can come and go so quickly. I have always been a fan of neutral colours, using whites and greens but you have to learn to adapt as everyone has different tastes. Meeting clients expectations are most important!

Having been in the wedding and events industry, you must have seen a lot of trend-shifts. Is there anything bridal-wise that you foresee being quite a big trend in this next season?

I have seen a huge movement of trying to keep guests entertained. Anything from creating food & drink stations to hiring unique entertainment such as cartoon artists. Gin bars, whiskey bars and food trucks are popular. I cannot see this disappearing - only growing.

Another trend I've seen is using greenery instead of flowers. For example using herbs planted in boxes so they can be reused or large floral installation suspended over your table. Apparently pink (blush rose) is on the rise, so let’s see what happens!

Any tips for avoiding an proposal faux paux and is there anything proposal wise that’s a big ‘no no’ for you personally?

Location & being organised is everything for a marriage proposal. We see proposals going wrong when they are disorganised. If planned properly you can then relax and enjoy the moment. We one-hundred percent feel that including an engagement ring is extremely important. Even if it’s a temporary fake ring or loose stone, you cannot be empty handed when popping the question!

Being a successful business woman and constantly on-the-go, how do you unwind and spend any free time you may have?

I really enjoy doing yoga and going for walks. Learning to meditate is on my list to do this year but that has not been mastered yet.

Any advice for women wanting to go into this industry or even start their own business in a related field?

This industry is all about hard work and getting as much experience as possible. When first starting out, do not say no to anything, as any experience is a learning curve.

Lastly, for the beautiful brides-to-be, any tips before you start planning your wedding?

I suggest this to my brides and even friends when they first get engaged. Weddings can consume ones life or start annoying your partner with daily talks. What I suggest doing from the beginning is setting 1 or 2 nights a week for “wedding talk”. This will reduce the arguments and create a fun time to chat. Light some candles, cook some food and open some bubbly. Let it rather be a celebration than stress-fest!
